About us: Leeana is an early stage biodiversity startup based in Berlin. By combining businesses locations with nature data, we enable companies to measure and manage their biodiversity impact, as well as enabling them to report on upcoming biodiversity frameworks. To further develop the Leeana platform we are looking to expand our team.

The role: As the Head of Engineering at Leeana, your mandate is straightforward and critical: construct the foundational architecture for our software's future. This role is central in crafting a platform that is resilient, scalable, and technologically advanced. Anticipate an operational and hands-on engagement from the onset, tackling frontend, backend, and geospatial data intricacies.

In the early stages, your hands-on skills will be paramount, but as the platform matures and the team expands, your focus will shift. You will lead the scaling of both the platform and the technologies we use, ensuring their evolution keeps pace with the development and sophistication of our offerings. You will drive the enhancement of our infrastructure, strengthen our security protocols, and be instrumental in building and steering an exceptional engineering team. Your leadership will steadfastly guide our technical direction, ensuring it continually resonates with and amplifies our core mission: to revolutionize the way businesses engage with biodiversity.

Responsibilities

• Take charge in refining, enhancing, and scaling our platform through hands-on leadership and rapid iterations based on user feedback.
• Design and implement a scalable, multi-tenancy architecture that ensures both reliability and security.
• Foster a tight-knit collaboration with the broader team to seamlessly integrate geospatial nature data and scoring at the heart of our infrastructure.
• Stay updated with the latest technological advancements, proactively integrating emerging trends to ensure Leeana's platform remains innovative.
• Champion best practices in coding, security, and design, ensuring our platform is robust, secure, and user-centric as we grow.
• Lead the recruitment, mentoring, and growth of the engineering team, ensuring Leeana attracts and retains top technical talent.

Your Skills:

• Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit with a hands-on, get-it-done attitude.
• Demonstrated experience in designing, building, and scaling SaaS platforms.
• Proficiency in cloud infrastructure and backend development, emphasising AWS, Python, PostgreSQL, and serverless architectures.
